Who are we
We are a Public Association of the Faithful in the Catholic Church, made up of priests and lay men and women from various countries. Our main headquarters is in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee (Wisconsin), in the USA, and we are present in Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Ethiopia.
In all these places the Community has established firm ties with the local churches, and diverse ministries that primarily open their doors to those most in need have been started.
We wish to follow St. Paul’s example as tireless evangelizer, itinerant founder of communities, and as a builder of bridges between different cultures.
What defines us
AN EXPERIENCE OF THE GOSPEL
We desire to live in the way of Jesus and his disciples, as an authentic family. The experience of community and our Christian commitment to the needs of our neighbors are the fundamental elements of our lives.
UNIVERSALITY
We are a community made up of people from a diversity of nations and cultures, and we value this internationality as a witness to the Gospel in our global world.
SENSITIVITY TO INJUSTICE
We feel a strong sense of solidarity with those who are suffering, with a particular sensitivity towards injustice.
We promote the integral development of persons so that they can discover their full human potential and their dignity as children of God.
Currently we are carrying out programs in health, nutrition, education, agriculture and attention for children in need as well as pastoral work.
THE SPIRIT OF THE COUNCIL
We foster the spirit of openness of Vatican II by:
• Being sensitive to the presence of the Spirit in each and every culture, valuing positively the created world in which Jesus was incarnated.
• Appreciating the contribution that society, culture and science make to advance the integral development of the person.
• Being attentive to the signs of the times, which help us to discern God’s will in each and every moment in history.
PROMOTING VOCATIONS
In all of our daily tasks we strive to promote vocations to a committed life within the Church.
Where are we
We are present in developed societies as well as areas of need, in both urban and rural settings, among Christian populations and places of first evagelization.
We experience our apostolates as being bridges between distant worlds: establishing bonds of friendship, support and solidarity between individuals and groups that are often distant from one another.
