About us

The Community of St Paul is a Public Association of the Faithful within the Catholic Church, comprising priests and laypeople, both men and women, from various countries. Our headquarters are in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, in the United States, and we also have a presence in Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Ethiopia.

In all these places, the Community has forged strong ties with the local churches, and various ministries have been set up which are open primarily to those most in need.

We wish to follow the example of Saint Paul, a tireless evangelist, an itinerant founder of communities and a builder of bonds of unity between different cultures.

What sets us apart

EXPERIENCING THE GOSPEL

We want to live in the manner of Jesus and his disciples, as a true family. The fundamental aspects of our lives are our experience of community and our Christian commitment to the needs of our neighbours.

SENSITIVITY TO INJUSTICE

We stand in solidarity with those who are suffering and are particularly sensitive to injustice.

We promote the holistic development of individuals so that they may discover their human potential and their dignity as sons and daughters of God.

We currently carry out pastoral work as well as programmes in the areas of health, nutrition, education, agriculture and care for children in need.

VOCATION PROMOTION

In our day-to-day work, we strive to encourage vocations to the life of the Church.

UNIVERSALITY

We are a community made up of people from different nations and cultures, and we value this international character as a witness to the Gospel in our globalised world.

THE SPIRIT OF THE COUNCIL

We promote the spirit of openness of the Second Vatican Council:

Being sensitive to the presence of the Spirit in all cultures, and holding the created world in which Jesus was incarnated in high regard.
Appreciating the contributions of society, culture and the sciences to holistic human development.
Remaining attentive to the signs of the times, which help us to discern God’s will at every moment in history.

Where we are

We are present both in developed societies and in areas in need, in urban and rural areas, amongst Christian communities and in places where the Gospel is being preached for the first time.

We carry out our apostolic work as bridges between distant worlds, forging bonds of friendship, support and solidarity between individuals and communities who are far apart.
